Retirement from SME after 36 years


Brian O’Connell, has retired from the role of Senior Partner at SME Solicitors after 36 years with the firm.


Mr O’Connell aged 65, who specialises in motoring offences and licencing is also a Deputy District Judge. He will continue in that role, whilst also undertaking some part-time consultancy for SME Solicitors.


Incoming Senior Partner Ian Stirzaker commented: “Brian began his career studying dentistry, but after one year, changed to study Economics. After graduating he completed the conversion course for law and qualified in 1978. He is well known in the county and magistrates courts locally as an experienced advocate and is respected across Herefordshire and Worcestershire for his gentlemanly professionalism. The SME partners thank him sincerely for his many years of service.”


Brian O’Connell has acted on the Governing Board for local schools including The Chase Malvern and has been on the board of trustees of several local charities.


Brian added: “I am very proud to have been both Partner and Senior Partner of SME Solicitors, particularly over the past 5-6 years which have seen the firm’s successful merger and broad expansion. I shall miss everyone but am looking forward to the future which, I know, will be busy.”
